Heritage

A trade older than the empire.

Long before the Romans called this island Taprobane, before Marco Polo wrote that "the rubies of Serendib are unmatched," gem-bearing gravels along the Kalu Ganga were already being washed by hand. We are heirs to that craft. From our own mining concessions in Eheliyagoda we lift rough sapphires and rubies, cut them in our atelier, certify them through GIA, GRS or SSEF, and deliver them — never through a middleman — to collectors and ateliers in fifty countries.

We do not buy stones at auction. We do not re-label material from other origins. Every gem on this site began as gravel in our hands.

The Four C's

The grammar of a serious gem.

Anyone can sell a stone. We teach you how to read one — so the next dealer cannot mislead you.

01

Colour

The single largest driver of value. We grade in daylight and incandescent. Royal Blue, Cornflower, Padparadscha — these are not adjectives, they are precise positions on a colour map issued by the laboratory.

02

Cut

A poor cut wastes a fine stone. Our cutters work to the rough — not the calibrated calendar of mass production. Symmetry, brilliance, return-of-light: each measurable, each reported.

03

Clarity

Eye-clean is the floor. Loupe-clean is the standard we list. Inclusions are mapped on every certificate; nothing is hidden under a setting we did not choose.

04

Carat

Weight is the easiest factor to verify and the last one that should drive a decision. A 2-carat exceptional stone outranks a 4-carat ordinary one in every collection that matters.

The Collection

Stones available now.

Each gem here is in our vault in Colombo. Each has its own laboratory report. Each is reserved on first inquiry.

Mine to Hand

From gravel to vault.

Four steps. No middlemen. Full traceability from the wash-mat in Eheliyagoda to the courier at your door.

01

Mine

Rough sapphire and ruby gravels are lifted by hand from our concessions in Eheliyagoda. Each pocket is sorted on-site by master gradients.

02

Cut

Stones are mapped, oriented and cut in our atelier in Colombo. We cut to the rough, never to a calibrated catalogue. Yield comes second to brilliance.

03

Certify

Every finished gem is submitted to GIA, GRS, SSEF or Gübelin. Origin, treatment, dimensions, weight — all on paper, all verifiable on the issuing lab's site.

04

Questions, answered honestly.

No deflection. No upsell. The questions every serious buyer should ask before parting with capital.

How do I verify a Ceylon sapphire is authentic?

Every gem we ship is accompanied by an internationally recognised laboratory report — GIA, GRS, SSEF, or Gübelin — listing origin (Sri Lanka), treatment, weight and dimensions. The certificate number can be verified directly on the issuing lab's website. We also encourage independent re-grading on arrival; we settle on the basis of that report, not ours.

What is the difference between heated and unheated sapphires?

Most sapphires on the market today are heat-treated to enhance colour and clarity. The treatment is permanent and stable, but unheated stones are far rarer and command a significant premium — sometimes 3–5× for the same colour and weight. We disclose treatment status on every listing and on every certificate. If a gem is unheated, the report will state so explicitly.

Do you ship internationally? How long does it take?

Yes — we ship discreetly worldwide via FedEx, DHL and Malca-Amit with full insurance and tracked delivery. Typical transit times: 3–4 working days to North America and Europe, 2–3 to the Middle East and Asia, 4–6 to South America and Africa. Customs and duties guidance is provided per destination before dispatch.

Can I commission a custom gemstone or piece of jewellery?

Yes. Our atelier sources rough material from our Eheliyagoda concessions, cuts to your specification, and creates bespoke settings in 18k gold or 950 platinum. Lead times are typically four to eight weeks, with video updates from the cutting bench at every milestone.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank wire (preferred for high-value orders), credit card via Stripe, PayPal, and licensed escrow services for transactions over US$25,000. We do not accept cryptocurrency directly but can route through a regulated OTC counterparty on request.

Do you offer a return guarantee?

Yes. Every purchase carries a 7-day inspection guarantee from the date of delivery. If independent re-grading at GIA, AGL, GRS or SSEF shows any deviation from our stated specifications, we offer a full refund — including return shipping and re-grading fees.

Are your mining and cutting practices ethical?

Sri Lankan gem mining is artisanal and surface-level — there is no large-scale mechanised pit mining as in some other origins. Our concessions are licensed by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority of Sri Lanka. Workers are local, paid above market, and equipped with proper safety gear. We can arrange a site visit on request.
